Come see Railroad Day 2021!

The museum will be open to the public beginning July 3, 2021.

All exhibits will be open, there will be train rides, but the length will be limited to within the museum fence pending track work.

Please join us and help get things back to normal!

Vandalism at The Museum (again)

Sadly, it has happened again. Someone entered the museum grounds, broke into the roundhouse, stole a sledge hammer that they used to break through the door of the section house. No report on missing items at this time, but more work to repair/secure the site (which we would rather spend on restoring our artifacts).

CERM was at the Big E show.

2020 CERM Banquet was a success.

Congratulations to our Golden Spike winners Jeff and Rolf!

The Museum is closed for the 2019-2020 winter season.

Our last weekend for the season! Come see us 10/26 or 10/27, or wait until May 2020.

Sept 28th, was the 14th Annual Night Photo Shoot!

Opening Day for the 2019 season

was Saturday May 4th

We had our own Golden Spike photo!

Not bad! (top photo by Robert LaMay ).

Celebrating the 150th Anniversary of the Golden Spike that completed the nation's first transcontinental railroad on May 10, 1869, as well as the 16th Anniversary of our own golden spike marking the completion of the main museum trackage.

More scenes from opening day - positioning the locomotives, with Baldwin No. 10 standing in for C.P. 'Jupiter' and GE 44 tonner 0800 playing the role of U.P. 119.

The second photo demonstrates why it's called an"Armstrong Turntable", as the crew prepare #10 and the car mover to go back into the roundhouse.

For more info on the original golden spike, or "wedding of the rails" as it was sometimes called, there are videos on YouTube.

This one covers the Connecticut connection, Theodore Judah of Bridgeport.
